5. Metal
Metal is one of the more modern home building materials. Metal is used to create large structures. Metal may be a combination of steel and iron; titanium, chrome, gold and silver are also being used. More recently, metal has been used to create prefabricated metal homes.

6. Glass
Glass is one of the most common building materials when it comes to corporate offices. Recently it has gained popularity as a home building material. So, instead of curtain walls or other decorations – stained glass, colored glass, and frosted glass are now used for some wonderful effects.

7. Foam
Polystyrene or synthetic foam is a relatively cheap home building material. It has become more popular recently as a material used to create partitions.

8. Plastics
Plastic is not necessarily part of the structure. However, it is one of the important home building materials used behind the scenes. Plastic is used in plumbing pipes and hoses.

Today, building your own home means you can be more creative when planning a roof above your head. The design of your home need not be compromised for strength and stability.
