Touchless Trashcan

Trash cans that open with an infrared scanner – no touching required  - a lot less germs, mess, and odors.   How modern!!!  How wonderful!!!  This is how it works – when you get within 6 inches of the device the lid opens when you walk away it closes.

The touchless trash uses alkaline batteries but was created with energy saving technology, so the batteries are suppose to last about a year.  You can also purchase a separate A/C adapter if you prefer, of course the location of the touchless trash can must be close to an outlet.

Two of the less expensive brands are Itouch and Nine Star.   Nine Star being less expensive than the Itouchless Brand.  Nine Star’s smallest size of 2.1 gallons costs as little as $35.00 and the largest size of 21.1 gallons being around $75.00.   Itouch’s smallest size of 1.5 gallons costs approximately $42.00 and their largest size of 23 gallons costs around $185.00.   For your best savings, buy on Amazon or Ebay you may find a better deal.

Touchless trash cans are most generally sold in a stainless steel finish, which will not chip, rust, or stain, less likely to show finger prints, and are also easy to clean.  White and black touchless trash cans are also available, however, only in certain sizes.   They are also sold in rectangular and round shapes.

If you want to try it out first – buy one for the bathroom.  The touchless trash can would be wonderful if you have children , especially in the bathroom.   The lid closes tightly and has a garbage bag ring/retainer so the garbage bags do not fall down.

If you have problems with the touchless trash can opening properly, do the following:  take out the batteries (for at least ½ the day), clean the lid with a wet cloth – paying special attention to the sensor area, manually opening the container while the batteries are out, then reload alkaline batteries and put the lid back on and see if that corrects the problem.  If not, you can return it within a year as long as you have a receipt.

A touchless trash can could be the last trash can you ever buy.
